What is God like?
Do you believe in God? If you do, what do you think God is like?
Is your God anything like the revelation He has given us of Himself in the Bible, the Word of God? Read on and judge for yourself:
God transcends man, He is other and beyond comparison.
God is Life, "in Him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17v27-28).
He is invisible (Colossians 1v15) because "God is a Spirit" (John 4v24).
There is one God (Deuteronomy 6v4) existing and manifesting Himself to us in a threefold way - as Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2v18).
God is Eternal - self existent. He had no beginning and has no end. He is from eternity and to eternity (Psalm 90v2).
God is Omnipresent or present everywhere (Psalm 139v7-10).
God is Omniscient or all knowing (Psalm 139v1-4).
God is Omnipotent or all-powerful, nothing is impossible for God(Jeremiah 32v17,27).
God is Love (1 John 4v17). He gave His Son to die for our sin (John 3v16).
God is Light, He is unapproachable to sinful man (1 John 1v5).
God is Good. He forgives sin and provides spiritual and material blessings (Ephesians 1v3 ; Acts 14v17).
God is Merciful (Ephesians 2v4) and Gracious (Ephesians 1v2, 6-7).
God is Righteous and Just (Psalm 145v17 : Acts 10v34-35).
God is Holy - set apart from sin, perfect in moral purity (Leviticus 11v44).
God is Unchanging - He is forever the same (Hebrews 6v17-18).
As in the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15v11-24, God is waiting with open arms to welcome man back to Himself. He sent Jesus to pay the price for our sin and to reconcile us to Himself (2 Corinthians 5v17-19), this is the reason why Jesus is "the only way to God" our heavenly Father (John 14v6).
The good news is this, you can know God, the Creator of the universe as your Father. Read the following verses, believe God's Word and receive Jesus into your life today (Romans 10v9-10: John 3v3,6-7: 1v12).
